KiSMet Productions was founded in Tokyo in 2000 by Karen Severns and Koichi Mori to create exceptional films related to Japan.

We now create many other things as well. We not only make films, we design websites, write articles, organize tours, teach courses, build databases, collect oral histories, promote cross-cultural ties, throw art therapy parties, dispense technical advice, protest building demolitions, curate screening series, organize exhibitions, worship chocolate, volunteer for worthy causes and constantly fix our friends’ computers.

They may not contribute to our business, but these activities are all connected organically to the whole, or so we tell ourselves.
